Teaching Artist Institutes
Since 2020, Danica has helped organize and facilitate the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts yearly Teaching Artist Institute. This institute brings teaching artists together for a three-day professional development, focusing on important topics in the teaching artistry field. Past Teaching Artist Institutes’ themes included Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Pedagogy, the National Core Arts Standards, Arts and Healing.
Arts, Culture, and Social Emotional Learning (ACSEL) Hawai’i Online Portal for Education Institute
In 2022, Danica worked as a co-facilitator for the ACSEL HOPE Institute. Teaching Artists and Teachers were paired together to create arts-integrated, culturally responsive, SEL centric lesson plans to be disbursed throughout the DOE system.
Interactive Sustainability Workshop
Danica worked with the School of Sustainability at ASU to develop interactive workshops for both Master’s students and community members. This included co-facilitating a class for Sustainability Masters students at Arizona State University that focused on creating an interactive workshop on Worker’s Cooperatives for community members. During this class, she introduced students to interactive, theatrical ways to activate participants in the workshop.
Workshops for Educators and Artists
Danica has presented interactive workshops at a number of different conferences, including a number in Hawai’i for the Department of Education Health Education and Arts Education Department. She has facilitated workshops on Spectacle Education and Immersive Theatre, Sensory Performance for Neurodivergent Youth, Period Positive Approaches to Teaching and Managing Organizations, as well as incorporating arts into the health curriculum.
